Sharp Drop in Rates of Breast Cancer Holds




Researchers from MD Anderson Cancer Center say in 2003 and 2004 there were nearly 10 percent fewer breast cancer cases than expected; say it is first substantial drop in breast cancer incidence in more than quarter century; reduction involved women age 50 and older; researchers say most likely reason for fall in rates is that large numbers of women stopped taking hormone therapy for menopause; therapy, combination of estrogen and progestins can increase incidence of breast cancer
